MONOLITHIC ELECTRIC INSULATION JOINTS

IEC has in its portfolio the electrical insulation joints, monolithic type. Commercialized under standard or special condition. These items are manufactured by Nuova Giungas Srl, belonging to the giant Italian group called Valvitalia.

Electrical insulation joints monolithic type are used to electrically isolate the pipeline from structures which do not wish to apply cathodic protection, such as groundings, foundations and supports. With this, you can:

– Electrically isolate a protected structure from an unprotected one, thus avoiding that the current reaches the structure that does not wish to pass electric current.

– Divide a structure to protect in isolated stretches and, therefore, treat each stretch independently of the other. In certain circumstances, such a procedure turns the protection easy.

They are very advantageous comparing to conventional joints, as they are much more resistant to faults and leaks. They are manufactured and assembled under controlled processes that offer monolithic joints greater capacity to support high pressures and aggressive fluid conditions, and DO NOT REQUIRE MAINTENANCE.

In order to guarantee the functionality of the monolithic insulating joints, it is important that the user has a strict control in the specification, having the information that directly impact on the constructive design of the joint and are fundamental for its guarantee. Therefore, it is necessary to know the Design Pressure, Nominal Pipe Diameter, Nature of Transported Fluid, Design Temperature, and Pipe Wall Thickness; in addition to confirm that the part sealing member is formed of a single piece of rectangular section and that its forming elastomer conforms to NORSOK M-710 or ISO 23936 and does not allow the usage of O-Rings Sealing Seals Type.
