ECDA and ICDA are services that assess the integrity of buried pipelines, especially where PIGs cannot be run or hydrostatic tests are not possible. ECDA addresses the external integrity of the pipelines through the detection of areas that present a higher probability of showing corrosion failure. Through the techniques mentioned in the previous item and direct investigation by non-destructive test methods. From the evaluation of the places which are deemed to be more crucial it is possible to assume that the other coating failure points must be in a better situation than the areas that were investigated.
The ICDA is similar to the ECDA, but the detection of the points that are more susceptible to corrosion inside the pipeline is done through flow analysis. In the case of gas pipelines, for example, one looks for points where electrolytes may have accumulated.
